Main Adaptations
- Trees have longer roots so that they can extract water from deeper in the ground.
- They have fewer leaves so that less moisture is lost through the process of evaporation.
- The leaves are also very small, to reduce moisture lost.
- They lose their leaves during the dry season to keep and conserve more moisture.
- All of the plants (grass, bushes etc.) and trees (Acacia and Baobab) adapt to help store more water for a longer period of time
- Baobab trees have thick trunks so that they can store 120,000litres of water. It does this so it can feed itself during the dry season.
